What is your career plan?

So weird that this blog prompt came up…..exactly what I was thinking of! Now that I have completed an MA in Fine Art I plan to spend the next two years just creating in my studio. I never realised what a lifeline being creative is till now. I need that creative space. Two years is a long time to write essay upon essay but it has taught me that thinking critically about art and the creative process is so meaningful. I love the idea of reasoning behind experimentation. Catharsis is a reason. I now see how lived experience informs an art practice. I really miss just being in the studio. I have taken a break. My last public facing outcome was on the 14th March…..I haven’t been creative in studio since then. It’s time!!!!

So my career path involves just being creative….creating a body of work as a form of catharsis for my own mental wellbeing!

And of course….curating exhibitions.

Spontaneity is the watchword that informs my art practice. My artwork celebrates the energy of abstract expressionism. 'why not?' underlines my creative process. Forget the box! Its obsolete...it's all about whatever shape you want to throw on that dance floor! The process drives my practice!! For me, work well done is work I have thoroughly enjoyed making...work that has made me think, sweat, cry, scream and come back for more!!! Work that gets my back up; pushes me...gives me cause for doubt. Makes me push in order for 'why not?' to become possible. Boundaries? What boundaries?
