The penny has finally dropped for me! Who has a WordPress website with a static page????? I have had ONE post on a static page for eleven years! 11!
In conversation with a family friend today…he had all these nuggets of wisdom…about income revenues…he actually said ‘monetising’ but that word throws me! I relate with income streams….(I digress). So he was like ‘I didn’t see your logo at your recent exhibition’….I’m thinking in my head ‘what does my logo have to do with my recent exhibition?’ Mind you I have an Etsy store, a website, a Spotify podcast, a YouTube channel, TikTok, blogs….the works…..but in the moment I still didn’t get what my logo had to do with my exhibition. He started talking monetising’ which I didn’t get….so he said you need to earn an income from your art! Now that I understand….he spoke a lot….about emotional value of artwork….auctions after exhibitions….QR codes….a lot. He reminded me that I have a website….I need to use it to generate income streams….actually he didn’t say that….he said to use my art to generate income streams.
So when I got off the phone…I went straight to my website….greeted by this static page. I had not even put the exhibition on my website! So did all that….then saw a widget inviting me to write a post…I did. Then I set it up so that the latest posts can be seen and not just a static page. I’ve always been big on spontaneity….my latest collaboration was fuelled by spontaneity to an extent. Long story short….i now understand the benefits of having a WordPress website…so you can keep it live with posts! Duh….only took 11 years for the penny to drop!
