What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?
As well as being a studio artist…. I work in education and school holidays are precious to me. The last thing I searched for online just before I went to sleep last night…..was ‘term dates’ because I want to know if I have to go back to work next week Monday.
Not because I’m itching to go back to work….I need more me time! Well….the website details when students return but nothing about inset days (we always have inset days at start of a new school year). I really hoped I wouldn’t have to go in for inset days on Monday ….after all students do not return till Wednesday and Wednesdays are my day off!!! Win win for me!!!!!
I couldn’t find out online if we go in for inset days before students return on Wednesday. (Let me tell you a little bit about inset days….they are supposed to be productive days but I find them absolutely tedious). So…I started asking around …texting colleagues about resuming work on Monday….two colleagues had no idea…one colleague confirmed my worst fears. We go back on Monday and Tuesday for *@!!* inset days!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Why?!!!!!! Why not just Tuesday? Or better still why not no inset day this time around? The school is buzzing with activity when students are around…they are literally the life of the party. I don’t want to go in doing small talk…listening to speeches we’ve heard a gazillion times!!!!! I want the school year to start on Wednesday like it said on the school website. Not Monday!!
So no I didn’t find what I was looking for online…I found it offline and it sucks!!!! Here’s me believing online info from a veritable website would give me the whole picture but no….I wasn’t any the wiser till I found the info offline.
Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!
Half the time online information is never the whole picture. It’s just a small part of a big jigsaw. You actually have to be on ground to experience first hand or find out via reputable sources offline.

I agree that information on the internet being provided in small bits needed more work when researching something. Informative post!
Thank you. Info on the internet is piecemeal especially certain websites. Some school websites are only geared towards parents and students but what about staff?? Schools are meant to be communities…everyone should be thought of…
Then again there are so many other sectors that provide the bare minimum info online…of course data protection is important…but it has to be better say ‘bring an orange’ instead of ‘bring a round fruit’.
