If my genes are anything like my mum’s I have so much to look forward to (by God’s Grace) cos mum is soooo beautiful. I know I’m gushing but she really is. I’m looking forward to long, lush natural hair, to beautiful ‘pepper and salt’ colouring (mum is only greying in front), I’m looking forward to unblemished skin, to vigour (she walks so briskly…I sometimes run to keep up). Hard to believe she is a retired pensioner (she is most definitely not retired in any sense of the word). Sixty must be the new fourty cos mum is way past sixty! Talk about aging gracefully…she is aging gorgeously.
Spontaneity is the watchword that informs my art practice. My artwork celebrates the energy of abstract expressionism.
'why not?' underlines my creative process. Forget the box! Its obsolete...it's all about whatever shape you want to throw on that dance floor! The process drives my practice!! For me, work well done is work I have thoroughly enjoyed making...work that has made me think, sweat, cry, scream and come back for more!!! Work that gets my back up; pushes me...gives me cause for doubt. Makes me push in order for 'why not?' to become possible. Boundaries? What boundaries?
