How do you use social media?

At one point…it was just to be nosey….voyeur….curious.

Now I use social media to document my art process…give insights into my studio practice and learn from other creatives.

There are so many interesting tutorials on YouTube….snippets of techniques on instagram. Best of all just seeing how other artists curate their social media feed is such a learning curve.

I’ve got a ‘trigger happy block’ habit that makes social media less of a minefield (for me anyway). Any hint of unnecessary antagonism….I’m just like ‘block’ ….no engagement…no explanation.

It’s so funny because I know loads of people (my husband included) who spend hours on social media reposting almost every thing they see….I tend to question everything and hardly ever repost anything ….there is so much disinformation out there.

So when I post I’m basically documenting my creative process so that I can revisit my posts!

Spontaneity is the watchword that informs my art practice. My artwork celebrates the energy of abstract expressionism. 'why not?' underlines my creative process. Forget the box! Its obsolete...it's all about whatever shape you want to throw on that dance floor! The process drives my practice!! For me, work well done is work I have thoroughly enjoyed making...work that has made me think, sweat, cry, scream and come back for more!!! Work that gets my back up; pushes me...gives me cause for doubt. Makes me push in order for 'why not?' to become possible. Boundaries? What boundaries?
