I’m really loving taking time out, pacing myself. Got into a rhythm….work; break;work;break and it’s nice to see the way it’s panning out. I distinctly remember times when I would try to fight a potential artist block by trying to do as much as possible without stepping away. I would sometimes overwork a piece. I’m definitely learning to relax into the process of creating…..it’s not a sprint….its a journey.
I’m allowing my creative process to inform the direction a piece takes. Having accessibility to the piece without having to work on it really helps….I work on more than one piece at a time which makes the process of creating less pressurised.
…work in progress…(dried leaves, tree bark, dried flowers, enamel, rubber, acetate, acrylic, cardboard …work in progress….(acrylic, gesso, silicone oil, electrical tape, canvas)
Spontaneity is the watchword that informs my art practice. My artwork celebrates the energy of abstract expressionism.
'why not?' underlines my creative process. Forget the box! Its obsolete...it's all about whatever shape you want to throw on that dance floor! The process drives my practice!! For me, work well done is work I have thoroughly enjoyed making...work that has made me think, sweat, cry, scream and come back for more!!! Work that gets my back up; pushes me...gives me cause for doubt. Makes me push in order for 'why not?' to become possible. Boundaries? What boundaries?
